Gap Analysis

Closing the Gaps of College and Career Readiness

An InnovateED
White Paper

During these tough economic times, it is essential to prioritize where to best spend our money. By conducting a Gap Analysis, InnovateED is able to present a Report of Findings focused on identifying and remediating gaps in school systems and practices essential for implementing College and Career Ready Academic Programs. These “school profiles” allow for a strategic and prioritized approach for improving academic programs and implementing support services. Four Foundational Systems and Practices are a focus of our gap analysis:

  • Leadership, School Culture and Structured Collaboration
  • Coherent Instructional Program
    • Student performance outcomes
    • Student placement and course sequence pathways
    • Formative assessment practices
    • Common instructional model/language
  • Systematic Student Support Structures
  • Development of College and Career Ready Student Attributes

Gap analysis outcomes can also be used for identifying focus areas, objectives, implementation strategies and milestones/monitoring points for WASC, School Site Plans or LEA Addendums. Through this process, InnovateED serves in a consultative role to support districts and schools in aligning systems and practices with college and career readiness indicators.
